Georgella Muirhead, APR, is a founding partner of Van Dyke•Horn, formerly named Berg Muirhead and Associates. Under her leadership, Berg Muirhead and Associates grew to be one of the region’s leading public relations agencies. The agency has executed communications campaigns tailored to meet the needs of more than 150 clients from a diverse group of industries. 

Georgella is a natural born communicator whose expertise as a community engagement specialist has earned her high praise. Georgella is known for the energy and creativity she brings to every project and has led or provided strategic leadership to some of Detroit’s most challenging and successful community outreach and communications efforts

Georgella Muirhead has been a PR practitioner for almost 40 years. Before forming Berg Muirhead with Bob Berg, she served 24 years as a government public relations administrator in the cities of Ann Arbor, East Lansing, Southfield and Detroit, as well as operated Georgella Muirhead Communications, Inc. 

In 2004 she served as project manager and spokesperson for the Detroit Democratic Presidential Debate and in 2008 she served as spokeswoman for the Congressional Black Caucus Institute’s Myrtle Beach Democratic Presidential Debate. 

She is an accredited member (APR) of the Public Relations Society of America. Among her awards are Wayne State University’s Alumni Achievement Award in the public relations department.  She has also received a PRSA Silver Anvil award for excellence in government communications and the American Marketing Association Grand Effie Award for student recruitment and community engagement.  

Georgella is a former board member of the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History and the Detroit Public Television station WTVS-Channel 56.
